Hi friends,

Svitlana is here today. Happy New Year! I hope this year will bring you a lot of love and tons of inspiration.

One thing that differs one year from another, except at least numbers, is Pantone color of the year. And this year it’s striking Ultraviolet! I really love this color and really love it was chosen as a color of the year. And today I want to share a monochromatic card made in this color.

I think the closest to Ultraviolet are Altenew Midnight Violet and Deep iris Die Inks and I used Midnight Violet to create the card.

I started by stamping and die-cutting several elements using Lacy Scrolls Stamp ans Die Sets out of Solar White Cardstock. Next I made an A2 card base out of the same cardstock and blended Midnight Violet Dye Ink onto the bottom part of it. I was using a painters tape to mask off the area of the card base above the inked one.

Next I stamped a floral design using stamps from Peony Scrolls Stamp Set stamped with Midnight Violet Dye Ink. I used masking for several elements, to prevent elements overlapping.

I cut a stripe of the same Solar White Cardstock and colored it in violet by blending Midnight Violet Dye Ink to cover the stripe completely. This time I blended ink a bit more intensive, to have it a bit darker than the card base bottom. Then I applied a bit of adhesive onto the back side of the stripe and wrapped silver thread around.

I adhered Lacy Scrolls elements onto the bottom part of the card. Followed by foam mounting the stripe using black foam squares, positioning it in between the inked and white parts of the card base.

To finish off the card I die-cut a sentiment out of Solar White Cardstock using a die from Envelope Liner Die Set and adhered it onto the stripe.

These two stamp sets have similar floral elements and as you can see can be easily combined together. They’re not identical but look very alike, which allowed to create this vision of positive and negative stamping. This design will also work for any other stamp set that has both outline and solid parts of the same image.
