Hello friends! It’s Virginia here and I am so glad that you chose to spend part of your Black Friday to visit Altenew Card Blog. I am keeping this post short and visual, so you can spend time with your loved ones and check out the fabulous Altenew Black Friday Sale Collection!? Let’s get to the topic on using Artist Markers with vellum, shall we?
I took out the lovely November release “Golden Feathers Stamp and Die Bundle” and did some background stamping first.
The colors I used are: Deep Blue Seas Oval/Mini Cube, Shades of Purple Oval/Mini Cube and Seashore Oval/Mini Cube. Did you notice the pink “polka dots”? I inked up one of the smaller dotty stamps in “Golden Feathers” in Pink Diamond to fill up the background.
Next comes the fun part… I applied the Artist Markers Set B and Artist Markers Set C to a heavy vellum. I colored the darkest purple and blue all over the vellum. I then turned the vellum over and heat-embossed the feather image on top of the colored vellum. The feather was embossed in Pure White Embossing Powder in the usual fashion.
Altenew Artist Markers are alcohol-based, so they work perfectly with non-porous surfaces, such as vellum paper. To prevent it from warping, I used heavier vellum paper (40 Lbs). The sentiment (from Story of Us Stamp Set) was stamped in Lava Rock Crisp Dye Ink.
The feathers were embellished in silver strings and sequins. One small tip: you can totally customize your sequin colors by coloring the clear sequins with Altenew Artist Markers! Because that’s what I did here with this card. That means you can now stop buying colored sequins (haha!!). The best thing is? They ALL MATCH! I hope this gives you an extra idea about using the Artist Markers! Have a wonderful day!
