Stamp Focus: Wild About You

by Virginia Lu

Hello there! It’s Virginia here. Did you have fun with yesterday’s December Release Blog Hop? If you have not already done so, simply scroll down and join the fun hop. I know you will be full of ideas and inspiration. I am here to highlight one of the awesome stamp sets in this release. This is a smaller set, but boy, is it full of versatile images and lovely details.

I am sharing how I created the three cards in chronological order. That way you can really get to know this stamp set in detail.

Generally, when I first receive a new stamp set, I like to stamp out the images and see what ideas I might come up. This is easily the most fun part of the process. And that is exactly what I did with card #1.

To create a WOW factor, I stamped the bee first and ran the die with a tan embossing mat through my Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine (isn’t it lovely!?). This extra step resulted in a dry-embossed imprint around the bee! With the die still in place, I took out Tropical Forest and Fresh Lemon Crisp Dye Ink and carefully sponged around it.

The sentiment “hi” from ASL Love Stamp Set fits right in! I also decided that leaves and stems do not always have to be green and so I used Rock Collection instead. I think I like it!

Now with Card #2…
With the tall and slender stems, I thought it would be good idea to create a bouquet with the matching die. This is when a stamp and die bundle comes in handy.

I didn’t try too hard to line up each and every layer…because that is not the point. I wanted to evoke a rustic and carefree feel in this design.

Once I stamped and made the die cut pieces, I arranged the stems first and adjusted the heights of each stem. After that, I arranged the colors and size of each flower. Basically you are arranging a flower bouquet on paper!

The Thicker from The New Day Card Kit is the easiest way to complete this design.

And then there’s Card #3
This is when I thought to myself… I need to get a little more creative!

I used the heart shape die from Halftone Hearts Die Set as the mask. I chose just two detailed images from the stamp set and stamped around the heart.

The silver embossed flower left a gorgeous shine and served as a great focal point. At the end, I was very temped to add some colors to the flower but I kept it CAS and left it as is.

So, there you have 3 different takes with one stamp set. Hope this inspires you to try out stamp set like this… or better yet, get this set and try it out yourself.

Thank you so much for reading this in-depth Stamp Focus. Have a bee-tiful day!
