Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway

by jenniferrzasa

Welcome to Altenew’s annual Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop!

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are approaching and this can be a difficult time for seniors who are in nursing homes or shelters. We want these important people to feel loved, celebrated, and honored, so we have organized the Celebrating Parents Card Drive (visit the link for more details).

To celebrate the drive, I created two cards using rustic-colored card bases: Parchment and Spicy Yogurt.

I know this is a perfectly normal thing for most card makers, but I very rarely use card bases that aren’t white! It was fun to try something a bit different.

First up, a card for Mother’s Day.

I used our Painted Rose Stamp Set and decided to let some of that beautiful Spicy Yogurt Cardstock shine through. This was achieved by only stamping the second and third layers of the rose and leaves. Since I die cut each part, it lets your eye fill in the rest of the shape where some of the colors are missing.

A sentiment from Stunning Cosmos finishes the card!

My second project is for Father’s Day.

First, I stamped the Wood Pallet Background using Embossing Ink onto Parchment Cardstock. The image is from our Cotton Comfort Stamp Set. I thought the cotton plant was a great option to keep things masculine, yet still, have a bit of nature on the card. I then used three colored pencils (white, dark green, and light green) to quickly color the image.

The sentiment was stamped using words from Family Matters Extras and Extended Family Stamp SetsI hope you like my projects!

What pretty cards, and an awesome cause! I just lost my aunt, who had been in a care facility. I visited weekly, but I know many of the residents there had no family nearby. I know the cards will be cherished!
