Hello, Altenew friends! Norine here with you today with three cards that feature the lovely Reason to Smile Stamp Set. There are so many thoughtful, meaningful and important-to-hear sentiments in this stamp set, and even better, because of the way they are individually designed and cut, you can express countless different combinations of thoughts and feelings! The cards I’m showing you today are super simple and easy to do and allow the sentiments to take center stage!
Let’s begin with the watercolored card. I stamped a variety of words and phrases that accompany the “you are” sentiment by arranging them loosely around the main phrase. Because I was stamping onto heavily textured watercolor paper, I made sure to use a stamping tool so I could re-stamp the words multiple times if necessary.
Once the words were stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder, I painted overtop that part of the card front, with just one of the colors in the Watercolor 36 Pan Set – Coral Berry. I painted it and let it dry a few times to achieve the look of multiple tones and layers of the painted color.
The second card might be my favorite! I die cut four layers of cardstock die-cut using the Floral Heart Frame Die and adhered them together to create a beautiful and substantial heart element on this card.
Using the negative space of one of the cardstock die-cuts, plus a little extra masking paper, I inked the edges of the heart with Velvet Ink and a foam applicator. Then I laid the stacked Floral Heart Frame Die onto the inked heart on the card panel.
I love how the inked heart shape makes it look “shadowy” behind the heart die-cut. Next, I stamped another of the sentiment combos from the Reason to Smile Stamp Set onto the top piece of 2 layers of vellum. I was pleased to discover the trick of layering two pieces of vellum on top of each other to, first, create a slightly less transparent vellum and, second, to better hide the glue behind.
The last card in this set combines more of the various sentiments in the Reason to Smile Stamp Set, with the outline image from the Handpicked Bouquet Stamp Set. I stamped everything with clear embossing ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I colored the shadows of the leaves and blooms with the Coral Berry Artist Marker.
