Creative Coloring with Erum: One Layer Card with Book Club Stamp Set

by Erum Tasneem

Hi! Erum here with a one layer card to share with you featuring the Book Club Stamp Set.

Altenew Book Club and Shades of Friendship Stamp Set | Artist Markers | Erum Tasneem | @pr0digy0

To begin, I stamped the image from the Book Club Stamp Set in Permanent Black Ink. Next, I chose Grapevine, Velvet, Ruby Red, and Crimson Artist Markers to color the Book Club flowers. I used Warm Sunshine and Buttercream Artist Markers to color the smaller yellow berries. To color the leaves, I used, Evergreen, Forest Glades and Frayed Burlap Artist Markers.

After this, I used the same pencil to draw horizontal lines. I filled these in with Jet Black Artist Marker. Similarly, I added shadows to these lines as well to show faux dimension. And, it did make a huge difference!

So enthralled, watching you color the stamped flowers. And, wow, what wonderful tips for making a one layer card look dimensional with graphite shading and drawing lines to color in for stripes. Beautifully done. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it does! This type of smooth colouring gives the illusion of velvety texture!

Beautiful card! I love the shading you did with the pencil. Any tips or suggestions of what to use or not use for this technique? I checked your supply list, but didn’t see anything listed there. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! I used a regular pencil. You can use colour pencils too in shades of gray. In my previous videos, I have also used Gray markers and shades of gray colour pencils.

Your card is so beautiful. I havewatched so many of your videos and love to watch you color with Artist Markers. My question is, do you approach all flowers the same or do you use a different method fior different types, as an example, small petals versus large petals? I have sets A-E but my coloring never seems to improve much!

Hi Linda! For this particular card I chose an easy method of colouring. My style of colouring changes according to my mood. Petal size does make a difference but not that much. If you mute my video and slow down the speed, you will be able to copy my movements and get a better idea. I have done quite a few videos with Artist Markers, covering basic, intermediate, and advance colouring methods. I am sure you will find something that will work for you :)

A beautiful card! Thanks for doing this in a manner that helps us get the hang of how to color with these markers. Your directions were very helpful.
