Get to know Seeka!

Hello there, I’m Seeka and I’m thrilled to be a guest today! I found, and fell in love with, cardmaking in 2017 when I decided I wanted to challenge my brain by doing something new to me: being creative. By day, I’m a digital product manager, by night, I’m an inky cardmaker.

Little did I know how much joy and how many wonderful people this craft would bring into my life!  I grew up just north of Chicago and currently live right across the bay from San Francisco.

Let’s take a look at Seeka’s projects!

Today, I have two cards using the More than Birthdays Creativity Kit to share.  This kit has two gorgeous layering dies and a variety of versatile sentiments in a beautiful script!

Before I get started, I’ve got some exciting news! You can get the More than Birthdays Creativity Kit today at 35% OFF + get a FREE online class! HURRY! Sale ends on 11/10/2019 at 11:59 PM EST!

Let’s get on with my projects!

I started my first card by using the Layered Floral Cover Die A three times, once on bristol smooth paper and twice on a 110 white cardstock. I layered and adhered the two 110 die-cuts together and then set them aside.

Using foam blending tools, I blended three colors of ink onto the bristol smooth die-cut. I concentrated Crimson in the centers of the flowers and then blended that out with a bit of Coral Bliss, finishing with Sunkissed. I really love how these colors work together for a pretty pink, peach, and golden palette.

Next, I adhered the inked piece over the white layered piece I set aside earlier, offsetting them just a tiny bit and trimming off the excess white layer at the top and right sides of the piece. Afterward, I adhered the panel to an A2-sized card base.

For the sentiment, I used the “dream big” stamp from the More Than Words stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink onto thick vellum and then sprinkled clear embossing powder over top before heating it with a heat gun. This is my favorite way to create an embossed sentiment in black because it’s not nearly as messy as using black embossing powder.

To finish the card, I fussy cut the sentiment and adhered it onto my card front.

For my second card, I got out pigment powders for a bit of watercoloring. I happen to use Brusho powders, but any pigment powders, or watercolors for that matter, will do!

I used painter’s tape to tape down a piece of watercolor paper onto my work surface. Then I used a brush to wet the paper with clean clear water. I sprinkled a bit of Brilliant Red, Vermillion, and Gamboge pigment powders (can you tell I love this color palette?) over the panel and watched as the powders bloomed. To ensure that the entire panel was covered, I used a brush to help move the pigments around, taking care not to over blend so that color variation between the three colors remained. When the panel was dry, I die cut it using the Layered Floral Cover Die B die.

I also painted another piece of watercolor paper, this time a solid red using the Brilliant Red powder.

Using the Layered Floral Cover Die A die, I die cut a piece of Neenah Solar White. With my three layers ready, I adhered the white die-cut over my tri-colored die-cut and then adhered the combined piece onto the red background. I used the same sentiment stamp set and technique for the sentiment which I adhered to the front of the card. Then, to finish, I adhered the resulting card front to an A2-sized card piece.

Thank you so much for visiting!
