How to Create Monochromatic Cards Using Watercolor Halftone Stamp Set

by Svitlana Shayevich

Hi friends,

Svitlana is here. Today I will be sharing several ideas of how the newly released Watercolor Halftone Stamp Set can be used.

It’s a beautiful and quite unique set that contains three floral images of different shapes and sizes and sentiments for many occasions.

Due to the nature of this set, all my cards happened to be monochromatic. Mainly because I felt like this (and I like making monotone or two-toned cards in general). But this set can be definitely used for multi-colored stamping as well.

For my first example, I made a sympathy card. Those can be challenging to make when it comes to design. I always am concerned to not make it inappropriately over decorated. You know what I mean? So usually I go with a quite minimalistic and simple design.

I started making the card by first ink blending the Olive Crisp Dye Ink onto a Solar White panel. I did more heavily inking towards the top part and sides. Next, I blended the very edges of existing blending using the Moss Crisp Dye Ink.

Then I stamped the biggest floral image from the set using the Moss Crisp Dye Ink. I also stamped the sentiment in the bottom right part of the panel.

After that, the panel was foam mounted onto a white card base. Lastly, I added several liquid clear droplets.

Or I should rather say – gray and white, as I did gray-tone stamping for this card.

I stamped the middle-sized floral stamp and the flower stamp from the set using the Pure Graphite Crisp Dye Ink onto white cardstock and then die cut them using the matching dies.

After that, I made a card base out of a Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and added black splatters onto it. Then I popped up the floral die-cuts onto the card.

To finish off the card, I white embossed a sentiment onto a Jet Black Cardstock strip and popped it up onto the floral focal point.

For my last card, I decided to go with the always winning design of “hidden” sentiment.

First I stamped the background onto a white panel using all the floral images from the set with the Sapphire Crisp Dye Ink. Then I die-cut the word “LOVE” out of the panel using the Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set.

I also die-cut each letter of this word 6 times out of a Navy Cardstock. Next, I made dimensional letters by stacking all corresponding die-cuts with the background piece on top.

After that, I adhered the panel onto a Navy card base and then adhered all dimensional letters into their corresponding negative spaces in the panel.

Next, I added one more sentiment piece (white-embossed on black) onto the card. I used a stamp from the Thank You Builder Stamp Set for this die-cut. Lastly, I added several white and black crystals.

Here you have three ideas of how the amazing Watercolor Halftone Stamp Set can be used. As I mentioned above, I felt like making monochromatic cards using this set but all these designs can definitely be replicated in more colorful versions.

Have a wonderful day!

Really like all three monochromatic cards, but the hidden sentiment card is my favorite as I love the bright blue colors. The Watercolor Halftone set is so versatile as you could use about any color with good results. Love the texture that this set provides.

Beautiful! I love how you can get such pretty results and almost two tones but using the same stamp and one ink colour. My favourite is the black and white! Super pretty! I really like this stamp set! I can see myself using it a lot.
